WGTE Public Media recently launched their new website, created for them by Starkmedia. WGTE provides educational and entertainment media to the people of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. They offer access to television programming, local and national radio, podcasts, educational resources, events, and online content that appeal to all age groups and a variety of interests.
The new site is more navigable than its predecessor, featuring a responsive design that makes it accessible on multiple kinds of devices. To complete this project, the Starkmedia team initially focused on site mapping, wireframing, and content architecture with the goal of making the site navigable within three clicks. As they worked, the team strove to make content management, accessibility, and integration of the governing principles of the new WGTE site.
The Starkmedia team used Drupal to organize and manage WGTE’s content, which made the site more flexible for WGTE employees: using this CMS, they can easily build pages and upload galleries, PDFs, and audio files to the site. However, the team knew that WGTE would need more than a good CMS, which is why they created a custom WGTE CMS guide. The guide ensures that the site management instructions are readily available to anyone who will be using it in the future.
To increase the site’s functionality, the team integrated ProTracks, Triton, and Constant Contact to help WGTE manage their scheduling and playlists, “Listen Live” music, and email newsletters respectively. These tools allow WGTE employees to efficiently manage their content and WGTE users to quickly access the programming.
After the redesign was complete, we were pleased to provide WGTE with a website that will allow them to serve their community to their fullest potential.
